Description
The latest in my line of twisted faerie tales. This time we delve into that classic maritime tale of love across different worlds and bad bargains. This time round, our head-strong merwoman seems to have gathered together a hot crustacean band of cutthroats and sunk her prince's ship. Not satisfied with dubious contracts, she's bringing her prince (and all his gold) down to her.

I love the overlying concept of switching up the fairy tale without letting in the original European influences, and the title just makes the drawing. The use of color is very nice--I almost wish there were a few places of more intense color on the crabs--nothing super serious, and it's not aboslutely necessary, it's just a preference of mine.
The handling of the mermaid's fins is superb, they read really subtle and delicate without getting lost in the action of the scene. I also love that the skin's been treated with greens and blues--it really makes her read as an aquatic creature and not a hybridized being.
I wish the treasure in the chest was a little more disturbed, since the ship is sinking and canting to the right, but again: minor concern.
All in all, this drawing is gorgeous and a must <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/p/p…" width="15" height="16" alt="" title="+fav"/>!
